There are not many places in the world that have a robust fatbiking community, and even fewer places in which women's fatbike categories enter into double digits. Alas, this is Central New York and snow is kind of our thing. The inaugural Fatillac Flyer race was held at the Osceola Ski and Sport Resort on the Tug Hill Plateau. There were a whopping TWENTY-ONE women entered in this race (fact check: was this the largest female field outside a national event?)!
Our team had eight women participate (unsurprisingly, almost everyone on the team has fatbikes!). The course was tough with a lot of climbing and unideal snow conditions (that just add to the adventure). The race weaved in and out of the woods, with many technical and challenging spots.
Everyone on the team had a strong finish with Nicky and Julie snagging podium spots.
Thanks to Fuel with Boom for putting on a great event! We are excited to have another winter race to add to the schedule!
